Cooking Up Fantasy Trades Between WWE and AEW Rosters
November 10, 2024The 2024 NFL trade deadline has come and gone, and while several big-name players changed cities, wrestling fans started to dream up fantasy trades between WWE and All Elite Wrestling stars that would alter the landscape of the industry.
Some trades are considered blockbusters—think Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch being dealt to AEW for Adam Copeland and Mercedes Moné—while others are filled with key role players who could change the fortune of both companies.
Here are the fantasy trades that would make the WWE and AEW rosters better moving forward.
Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch for Adam Copeland and Mercedes Moné
The most significant possible trade the two promotions could pull off would be to send a package deal for real-life couple Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch to AEW for the return of Adam Copeland and Mercedes Moné to Raw and SmackDown.
Edge was one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time, and even with his leg injury, a return to his former company would add a veteran presence to the locker room again.
Moné is one of the most decorated women in WWE history under the name Sasha Banks, and returning to Triple H and Co. would allow her to finish her story.
On the other hand, Rollins is one of the most well-respected in-ring workers in the business and has the character needed to be a top draw in AEW instantly. In addition to his previous history with performers such as Jon Moxley, joining the roster would be a game-changer for Tony Khan's company.
The biggest part of the deal would be the acquisition of Becky Lynch. Not only has the former women's champion transcended wrestling, but that mainstream clout would also bring a work ethic and style unmatched in the AEW women's division right now.
The trade would instantly improve both companies and create fresh feuds and stories.
Bron Breakker, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn for Adam Cole and Thunder Rosa
The next possible trade would be WWE looking to move future stars Bron Breakker, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn in return for performers with an already-proven track record, such as Adam Cole and Thunder Rosa.
Breakker is one of the most promising prospects in all of wrestling and has already gained a positive reputation, but his time on the main roster has been hit-or-miss.
The same can be said for former women's tag team champions Fyre and Dawn. The three performers would make for ideal cornerstones in AEW moving forward.
In return, Cole could return to the creative mind of Triple H, the man partly responsible for the Undisputed Era in NXT. With Vince McMahon out of the way, Cole could come back and be a key piece on Raw or SmackDown.
As for Rosa, the WWE women's division would instantly receive a shot in the arm from the immensely popular performer, and the Mexico-born star would help the company's international marketability.
Pete Dunne, Gallows and Anderson for House of Black
There has been speculation for months about what the future holds for Malakai Black and his House of Black stablemates, Brody King, Buddy Matthews and Julia Hart.
If AEW does not have long-term plans for the group, a massive multi-person trade with WWE should be an option.
With Khan's company being more heavily focused on in-ring performances, sending away one of its most popular stables should yield quite a return. For AEW, stealing away Pete Dunne, Gallows and Anderson would be a fair deal.
Not only does House of Black get a fresh start with a creative team that previously believed in its leader, but the trade would also provide WWE with roster depth in multiple divisions.
As for AEW, the tag team division would be bolstered by Gallows and Anderson, while the world title scene would be more enjoyable with Dunne lurking.
There would be major upside for both companies in this deal.
