Unrivaled Schedule, Rosters Set for Inaugural Season of New Women's Basketball League

The inaugural season for Unrivaled featuring six teams made up of six players each will tip off with a doubleheader on Jan. 17.
Unrivaled's first game will feature Napheesa Collier leading the Lunar Owls against Breanna Stewart and the Mist Basketball Club at 7 p.m. ET, followed by Angel Reese and the Rose Basketball Club taking on Arike Ogunbowale and the Vinyl Basketball Club at 8:15 p.m. ET.
The regular season will run through March 10, with a special one-on-one tournament being played from Feb. 10-14 that will feature a $250,000 prize for the winner.
Only 34 of the 36 players participating in the league have been announced thus far. The Lunar Owls and Phantom Basketball Club have left one roster spot open for a wild card entrant.

Rosters were determined by each of the six head coaches dividing the player pool onto the six different clubs, but the coaches did so without knowing which team they would be working with.
All 45 games between the regular season, one-on-one tournament and playoffs will be played at a new state-of-the-art facility based in Miami and broadcast on the TNT and truTV.
Co-founded by Collier and Stewart, the two stars announced the formation of Unrivaled in 2023 to serve as an alternative for WNBA players to participate in a U.S.-based offseason league that allows them to earn money without having to travel overseas.
"For years, women have relied heavily on off-court sponsorships for a majority of their income," Stewart said in a statement released in June. "With Unrivaled, we're revolutionizing the game by prioritizing investments in our stars and ensuring their on-court performance is reflected in their pay."
In addition to the three-on-three format, Unrivaled games will be four quarters and played on a compressed full court that measures 70 feet in length.
